What is Pilates?
The Pilates method (also known as contrology) was developed in the early 20th Century by it’s founder Joseph Pilates.
It consists of a series of functional movements that help to create an invigorating, whole body workout.
The Pilates Principles of breath, alignment, rib, trunk, scapular and pelvic stabilization, knee and hip mobility, control, co-ordination, core centring, concentration, flow and precision are applied to the exercises.
What are the benefits?

- Improve joint mobility of shoulders, hips, knees and ankles
Is this class suitable for me?
Pilates caters for everyone, from beginner to advanced. You can perform exercises using your own body weight, or with the help of various pieces of equipment.
If you have a chronic back or health problem, are pregnant or post natal, please consult with a physiotherapist, osteopath, doctor or midwife before joining a group fitness class.
What do I need?
A mat
A bottle of water
Warm, comfortable layers of clothing that are suitable for exercise
A towel (can provide support with knee, pelvis or neck issues)
